Happy Pride! 2024

Jun 10, 2024

June is Pride Month! It’s the month to celebrate the LGBTQIA2S+ community and everything we’ve done to get to where we are. Generations before us have fought for the rights we now have, and we recognize that there is so much work to do. We honor and respect the greatness that is our queer community and get to celebrate it all.

Pride Month is an annual celebration of the many contributions made by the LGBTQ+ community to history, society, and cultures worldwide. In most places, Pride is celebrated throughout the month of June each year in commemoration of its roots in the Stonewall Riots of June 1969. However, in some areas—especially in the Southern Hemisphere—pride events occur at other times of the year,” including our Fargo-Moorhead Pride Week, where we do our community celebration the second weekend in August every year.

As we’ve grown our own confidence and security as a company, we've been able to evolve Enlightened Beauty into a Queer and Ally Safe Space. It feels great to be able to be loud and proud for anyone who can’t be for various reasons. To us, being a safe space means being open and honest about who we are so others know they can be who they are when they enter our building. Without knowing, queer people don’t know if they are welcome in a space. Various situations have left a lot of people feeling unheard and unsafe emotionally and mentally, as well as even physically at times. We believe being a safe space is an honor and a responsibility we don’t take lightly. We support and protect all of our guests as best as we can.

At Enlightened Beauty, we will be participating in Pride in the Park, as well as be a part of the Pride Parade! Connecting with everyone last year at our Pride in the Park booth was so fun. We did some quick hair and makeup looks, complete with colored spray hair color, colorful flag-inspired makeup looks, and ALL. THE. GLITTER. To be a part of all the queer joy that day was amazing. We also enjoy going to the Pride Block Party and various other events that are sprinkled so perfectly over the weekend. Our trans and queer friends and family make the entire weekend so much fun, and we love celebrating everyone exactly as they are.

We get asked how people can better support our LGBTQIA2S+ community, and the best way to do it is to attend their events! Support anyway you can, whether that’s purchasing some queer art or jewelry at Pride in the Park or simply showing up to wave at the Pride Parade. The love that is shown makes everything worth it. Love is love. Happy Pride!
