Enlightened Beauty Will Always Be a Safe Place

Enlightened Beauty Will Always Be a Safe Place

Nov 19, 2024

This month we got the news that shook us up.

Now, I’m not one to talk politics, really ever, if I’m being totally honest. I’ve been very sad about how the parties have been acting for the past few elections and the way we have gotten away from taking care of the people of America. Where have human rights gone? Why can’t we love our neighbors and agree to disagree while still being kind to each other? The lines were drawn and the people who are in power are making it “cool to hate”, in my opinion.

I know that for the next 4 years it isn’t going to be easy. We are going to see people’s basic human rights disappear and we are going to have to watch as our country takes some big back steps.

It is in these times that I need to remind myself that there are people who voted for human rights. There are a lot of people in our community who still believe in equal rights and human decency. It’s now, more than ever, that we need to stick together and help each other. It sometimes feels easier for me to go inside and disassociate from what is currently happening and go into a dark hole, telling myself that it’s safer here, and that no one needs to be burdened by my negative emotions and “bad energy”.

I’m reminded every, single time, that when I reach out during these times, and connect with my fellow humans, I find the light. By having enlightening conversations and listening to others’ points of view, I can find some peace and begin to trust in humanity again. There are good people and good things in the world, we just have to look for them a little bit harder sometimes. I am a firm believer in what we focus on, we create more of.

Over the last few weeks of feeling all of my feelings and going through the grieving process, I have intentionally decided to concentrate my energy on love - loving my neighbor more, creating more loving moments in the salon and spa, as well as in my personal life, and being a kinder human. The world needs love now more than ever. I feel like if we collectively focus our energy on the good that is in the world, we will make more of it.

Now, I’m not saying to forget about the bad things that are happening, put on your rose-colored glasses, and pretend like everything is perfect. Feel those feelings, be honest about them, and when you feel like you are ready and able to channel your energy into good, do it. People need it. Worrying and staying mad doesn’t change anything. Taking intentional steps to create change and a better world does! I know I plan to get out into the community more in the next 4 years and do whatever I can to make the world better. I think not knowing how to do this is ok sometimes too. I know that I want to and I know that if I stay open to the possibilities, opportunities show up. I’m here for them.

One thing I promise you is that I am here to stay. Enlightened Beauty is a safe and sustainable salon and spa for you to call home. We will always do our best to protect human rights and contribute all that we can to make a better world for our team and our guests. Life is short and none of us know how long we have left on this spinning rock. While I’m here, I plan to do what I can to make it a little happier and a little more loving, every chance that I get.

Remember to be kind, protect your loved ones as best as you can, and be the love you wish to see in the world. I believe that's what we can do each day, and that’s exactly what I intend to do. See you next month!
